Recently, I requested that Nobby add an RSS feed to this site, and as he worked to do that, it came to my attention that he really didn't understand too much about RSS and what it can do for him, as both a webmaster and an internet user.
So, knowing he couldn't possibly be alone, I decided to post this so all could learn a little something about RSS, and make their lives simpler as internet users.
And as webmasters, not only make things easier for themselves, but more profitable as well and drive more traffic to their sites.
As a programmer, I have seen the marvelous things that can be done with RSS, from Yahoo widgets, and Vista sidebar gadgets, to
Popup Cody, dynamic blogroll lists, and chatroom post announcers...all of these making life for your regular visitors and forum admins easier and driving traffic to your site, forum, or blog.
Imagine spam being removed from your forum less than 30 seconds after its arrival. RSS can make that possible.
I found this article on Jack Humphrey's
Friday Traffic Report blog, which if you are new to the world of marketing your site, it is a must read blog packed with good information.
The article contains a number of links. Be sure to click through and read them all. The time spent will be well worth it.
